Fact sheet

What is AnswerTrace?

A plain answer to the questions people ask about this product: what it is, what it measures, where, what it produces, and what it does not do. Written to be quoted.

What AnswerTrace is

AnswerTrace is an AI visibility platform. It measures how often AI engines name a brand when buyers ask them for recommendations in that brand’s category, explains why the brand is or is not named, and tracks whether changes to the brand’s website move the result.

It is a measurement and diagnosis tool, not an agency and not a content mill. The scans are automated; the fixes are decisions a marketing team makes.

Which AI engines it measures

Four: ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overview, Claude and Perplexity. Each is asked the same buyer questions independently, because a brand can be named consistently by one engine and never by another.

  • ChatGPT is included on every plan, including the free one.
  • Google’s AI Overview is included from the Starter plan.
  • Claude is included from the Growth plan.
  • Perplexity is included from the Pro plan.

Which countries it measures from

Eight: India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Canada, Australia, Germany and the United Arab Emirates. Location is not a label on the report, it is a setting on the question: the same question asked from Mumbai and from London returns different brands, so each country is measured separately.

Within India, measurement can be narrowed to a city, because AI answers to local questions differ between metros.

What a scan produces

A scan asks real buyer questions, records every brand each engine named, and returns four things.

  • An AI presence score out of 100, built from visibility in answers, brand authority, how AI describes the brand, and how ready the site is to be cited.
  • A buyer-journey funnel: how many answers named the brand at all, how many put it in the top three, and how many made it the first recommendation.
  • A diagnosis of why, with the evidence behind each finding and the specific questions where the brand was absent.
  • A ranked list of fixes, and a record of what moved after each one shipped.

Who it is for

Marketing and growth teams at B2B SaaS, fintech, consumer marketplace and D2C brands, and the agencies that run those channels on their behalf. Agencies get a workspace covering several client brands at once.

It is India-first in a specific sense: the question banks, the languages and the pricing were built for Indian brands first, including those selling abroad. It is not India-only, and seven other countries are measured with the same method.

Which languages it measures in

English on every plan, with Hinglish, Hindi and one of Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Punjabi or Malayalam unlocking on higher plans, and all of them on Enterprise. Language is treated as a separate question rather than a translation, because the brands an engine names can change completely when the same question is asked in another language.

What it costs

Six plans: Free, Starter, Growth, Pro, Agency and Enterprise. The free plan runs a real scan and needs no credit card. Current prices are on the pricing page rather than repeated here, so there is only one place they can be wrong.

What AnswerTrace does not do

Stating the boundary is part of describing the product, and it is the part most often guessed at wrongly.

  • It does not promise a ranking. No tool controls what an AI engine says; AnswerTrace measures it and shows what correlates with change.
  • It does not write or publish content on a brand’s behalf without review. Drafts are generated for a person to approve.
  • It does not buy placements, submit to directories, or contact publications for you.
  • It does not track individual people. Every measurement is a question asked of a public AI engine, not a record of anyone’s browsing.

Frequently asked questions

What does AnswerTrace do?

AnswerTrace measures how often AI engines name your brand when buyers ask for recommendations in your category, diagnoses why you are or are not named, and tracks whether the changes you make move that result. It covers ChatGPT, Google’s AI Overview, Claude and Perplexity.

Is AnswerTrace an SEO tool?

No. SEO tools measure where your pages rank in a list of search results. AnswerTrace measures whether AI engines name your brand inside the answer they write. The two overlap, because search ranking feeds the engines their source material, and AnswerTrace reports Google rank alongside AI visibility for that reason, but ranking is not what it scores.

How does AnswerTrace measure AI visibility?

It asks each AI engine a set of real buyer questions, from a chosen country, and records every brand named in every answer. The score comes from those answers: how often your brand appears, where it appears, how the engine describes it, and how citable your own site is.

Which countries does AnswerTrace support?

Eight: India, the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Canada, Australia, Germany and the United Arab Emirates. Each is measured separately, because the same question asked from different countries returns different brands.

Is there a free version of AnswerTrace?

Yes. The free plan runs a real scan on ChatGPT and needs no credit card. Paid plans add the other engines, more questions, more countries and more languages.

Can AnswerTrace guarantee my brand gets recommended by AI?

No, and no tool can. AI engines decide what to say from sources nobody controls. AnswerTrace measures where you stand today, shows which gaps are associated with not being named, and tracks what changes after you act.
